Ladies announce 2012 slate

SHREVEPORT – Centenary volleyball has finalized and announced its slate for 2012, featuring three tournaments and four home tri-matches.

The Ladies open the season at the UT Dallas Tournament Aug. 31 against LeTourneau at noon and Mary-Hardin Baylor at 2:30 p.m. The final two games will be against host UT Dallas and Hardin-Simmons Sept. 1. A week later, Centenary travels to Tyler, Texas, to take on LeTourneau, Mary-Hardin Baylor, ETBU and the host Patriots.

Belhaven College is the Ladies first home match, the second leg of the first tri-match at the Gold Dome Sept. 11. Belhaven hosts Mississippi College at 3 p.m. before the Ladies face off against Belhaven, wrapping up the tri-match at 7 p.m. against Mississippi College. The second tri-match is a week later as Texas Wesleyan and Wiley College visit the Gold Dome.

Centenary opens play in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Oct. 6 against Trinity University at 1 p.m. in Sherman, Texas, followed by a 3:30 SCAC contest against Austin College. Centenary and the University of Dallas battle the next day at 11 a.m., also in Sherman.

Centenary finishes its home slate in the next two weeks as Rust College and UT Tyler visit the Gold Dome Oct. 11 before Millsaps and Southern Arkansas visit the Oct. 18.

Four straight SCAC matches on the road in San Antonio Oct. 20-21 wrap up conference play before the Ladies participate in the Rhodes Tournament, featuring Martin Methodist, Rhodes College, Birmingham Southern, and Bridgewater St. Oct. 26-27.

The SCAC Tournament will feature all six conference members in Colorado Springs, Colo., starting Nov. 2. Since Centenary is not yet eligible for NCAA postseason play due to its transition into Division III, the Ladies will wrap up the season Nov. 10 at the University of New Orleans.

Centenary finished last season 14-14, posting the most wins in more than a decade.
