SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary volleyball team opens the Caley Carter Era on Friday, Aug. 30 at 3 p.m. as the Ladies face Lyon in the first match of the Hendrix Labor Day Invitational. The two-day event features four matches for the Maroon and White, including three against first time opponents.

Belhaven stands as the only member of the field that Centenary has faced in program history as Lyon, William Baptist – both opposition on Friday – and host Hendrix will square off with the Ladies for the first time.

A more experienced, but still young squad returns to the floor for the first-time head coach as seven sophomores make up a majority of the 11-member roster. Three juniors and senior Beth Nuttall complete the 2013 squad.

Sarah Irons and Brook Bahlinger each return as the leading kills leaders from a season ago as two tallied more than 130 last season. Rachel Perkins and Sarah Sumner supplied 118 and 115 kills to round out the group. Nuttall paced the Maroon and White last season with 415 assists, which ranked among the leaders in the conference.

Thirty-one matches make up the 2013 schedule for the Ladies. The Maroon and White make its home debut on Oct. 1 against East Texas Baptist. The match against the Tigers is the first of six inside the confines of the Gold Dome.
