Caroline Carlton begins her second season as head Centenary volleyball coach for the 2018 season.

In just her first season, she led the Ladies to a 15-20 record - their best record since 1999 and their second-best mark in school history. Centenary also finished 4-10 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference standings, its best finish since the conference expanded to eight teams. For the first time in program history, the Ladies qualified for the SCAC Tournament (in previous tournaments, every SCAC school automatically qualified for the tournament). Individually, senior Desiree Frey became the first NCAA Division III All-Conference honoree in program history. Frey finished the season second in the SCAC in overall kills (401) and third in kills per set (3.26) to also be named Second Team All-Louisiana by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

Prior to coming to Centenary, Carlton spent the 2016 season as head coach at Wesleyan College (Georgia). She also served as the interim coach for the final 15 matches at Wesleyan in 2015.

She graduated from Mercer in 2015 with a bachelor of arts degree in political science. She also served as a student assistant volleyball coach with the Bears from November 2014 until May 2015.

A three-time captain for the Mercer indoor volleyball team, she played four seasons of indoor and three seasons of beach volleyball. In her time with the Bears, she amassed 962 kills in 113 matches and 399 sets played (2.41 kills per set) with a .212 hitting percentage. With 209 total blocks and 188 digs, she finished her indoor career with an average of 2.72 points per set.

In 2013 in beach volleyball, Carlton and teammate Emily Rochefort were named to the Atlantic Sun All-Tournament Team.
