Ladies Basketball Announces Additions for 2016-17 Season

SHREVEPORT, La. – Centenary athletics is pleased to introduce the newcomers for the 2016-17 season, announced Saturday, Sept. 17.

The class consists of four freshman, including Deunya Small from C.E. Byrd High School in Shreveport. Also from the Pelican State is Essa Badon while Sarah Faulhaber and Caitlinn Holt join the Maroon and White from Texas.

Here is closer look at the incoming class:


Esther Badon


Guard / 5-7

Prairieville, La. / St. Michael the Archangel HS


Badon grabbed All-District honors while playing shooting guard for Tami Reynolds McClure at St. Michael the Archangel High School. She also earned the Beta Academic Award for the Warriors.

Badon is the daughter of Jackie and Doug Badon and has a brother, Clark. At Centenary, she is majoring in business.


Sarah Faulhaber


Guard / 5-3

Houston, Texas / Alief Hastings HS


Sarah played shooting guard at Alief Hastings High School. She helped the Bears advance to the second round of the playoffs. Academically, Faulhaber earned Academic All-State and Academic All-District honors.

Faulhaber is the daughter if Renee and Michael Faulhaber and has two sisters, Rebecca and Caitlyn and has a brother, Chris Gonsalez. At Centenary, she is majoring in psychology.


Caitlinn Holt


Center / 6-0

Poynor, Texas / LaPoynor HS


Holt played as a post and center for head coach Gary Grahn at LaPoynor High School.

She is the daughter of Gary Holt and Julie Groom and has four siblings: sisters Lauren and Stacia Holt with brothers Kellen Holt and Jackson Groom. At Centenary, she is majoring in business.


Deunya Small


Forward / 5-9

Shreveport, La. / C.E. Byrd HS


Small played in the post for head coach Toni Martinez at C.E. Byrd High School, being named Second Team All-District for the Yellow Jackets. Academically, she was named an Honor Student.

The daughter of Emtisha Theus-Duncan and Darron Small, she has one brother, Bryan. At Centenary, she is majoring in chemistry.
