SHREVEPORT, La. – The Ladies rallied from eight points down to lead after one quarter, but the ‘Roos slowly increased their lead in the final three as Centenary (6-19, 2-12 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell to Austin College (18-7, 10-4 SCAC) 75-64 Saturday night, February 18.

It was quite the senior day for DeiAnna Hall and Linda Gomez Gil. Hall finished the game with a season-high 17 points on 7-for-14 shooting, while Gomez Gil grabbed a season-high nine boards.

Down 21-13 with 1:34 left in the first quarter, sophomore Jasmine Morris hit a pair from the line. Sophomore Savanah Doty hit a fastbreak three, and Morris hit a few more from the charity stripe to cut the deficit to one. Sophomore Erin Temple grabbed a defensive board with three seconds left, made both free throws, and Centenary carried a 22-21 lead heading to the second quarter.

Morris finished the game with 17 points and a 10-for-11 mark from the free throw line.

In the third quarter, Centenary fell behind by eight on two different occasions, but used a pair of 6-0 runs to pull within a basket. Beginning at the 6:33 mark, Hall scored six unanswered in a minute with two fastbreak layups and a jumper. The ‘Roos scored the next six points, but a jumper from freshman Deunya Small and layups by Morris and Doty cut the deficit to 50-48 with 1:15 left in the third quarter.

However, Austin College scored 12 unanswered at the end of the third and the beginning of the fourth to push the lead to double-digits for good. Kendall Heitmeier split from the line and Jessica Atwell hit a pair as the visitors led by five heading into the fourth quarter.

Bryce Frank hit four layups, including completing a three-point play, in the first two minutes of the fourth as the Austin College lead ballooned to 14 points. Frank, who only had two points heading into the fourth, scored 15-of-22 points in the final period for Austin College and finished the game with 17 points and 11 boards.

This was the final game for both Gomez Gil and Hall. Gomez Gil finished her Ladies career with more than 400 points and had career season highs in points, shooting percentage, rebounds, and blocks in her senior campaign. Hall finished her Maroon and White time ninth in scoring (819), third in free throws made (300), fourth in free throws attempted (421) , third in steals (166), and seventh in assists (195).
