KERRVILLE, Texas – Briana Edwards led a quartet with 15 points and 11 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as the Centenary women’s basketball team fell 73-59 at Schreiner University on Saturday afternoon. The Ladies’ record moves to 0-17 overall and 0-8 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The double-double for the Shreveport, La., native is her eighth of the season and her 10th game in double figures scoring and rebounds.

Lizzie Moran also supplied 14 points for the Maroon and White marking her sixth contest in double figures this season. DeiAnna Hall added 11 points with 10 coming from Rhonda Martin.

Kelsie Jackson led the Mountaineers with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Lindsey Peterson added 19 points with 13 coming from Bailey Harris.

Centenary held an early advantage in the contest, but SU claimed its first lead, 7-6, at the 14:45 mark of the half off a three-pointer from Jackson. The Mountaineers marched their lead out to double-digits with 1:21 remaining in the opening stanza.

The Ladies nipped the deficit to within six points, 47-41, with 13:37 left to play off a Francesca Lawrence layup. The Maroon and White kept the margin within single digits until 3:47 to play when Harris free throw pushed the SU lead to 64-54. SU claimed a 14-points - it’s largest of the game- with 22 ticks left on the clock.

Centenary returns to action on Tuesday, Feb.4 as the Ladies open a three-game homestand against Austin College.
