SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary women’s basketball team dropped a 96-62 decision on Monday evening to Louisiana College to fall to 0-2 on the season. The Wildcats moved to 1-0 on the campaign.

Linda Gomez Gil paced the Ladies in scoring as the sophomore provided a career-high 18 points in the outing. The total surpassed her previous mark of 11 at Southwestern on Jan. 18 of last season. Briana Edwards joined Gomez Gil in double-digit points with 10 on the evening.

Haley Deshautelle grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds to lead the Maroon and White on the glass including 10 on the defensive end. The total is the second most in the sophomore’s career as she pulled down 18 against the Wildcats last season.

The Ladies also received production from one of its four newcomers as Lexi Antoon finished the night third on the team in scoring with 9 points. The freshman also registered two blocks and grabbed three rebounds.

Centenary shot 35 percent from the floor in the setback as LC connected on 41.8 percent of its shots.

The Blue and Orange jumped out to a lead early and never looked back in the contest holding a 55-25 advantage at the break. LC reached its largest lead of 38 points with 9:20 left to play in the contest.

Neka Jones and Baylie Butler led the Wildcats with 15 points each while Keana Frank added 12 points in the win. Briana Harris paced the squad with 8 rebounds on the night.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, Nov. 21 as they travel to Irving, Texas for the University of Dallas Classic. The Ladies open the event against the Ozarks at 5 p.m.
