ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Centenary women’s basketball team dropped an 83-59 decision despite shooting season-highs from the field and from behind the arc. The setback moves the Ladies to 0-8 on the season while the Generals improve to 2-2.

The Maroon and White connected on 43.4 percent from the floor including hitting 50 percent of its shots from the 3-point arc. Centenary also grabbed a season-best 53 rebounds in the effort.

Sophomore Haley Deshautelle paced the Ladies with 17 points. The point total is a season-high for the Santa Monica, Calif., native and one off her career-high set last season against LaGrange on Nov. 23. It marks her first contest this season in double figures.

Rebecca Thompson added 15 points for the Ladies. The double-digit scoring outing is the fourth of the season for the Benton, La., native and her third out of the last four outings. Briana Edwards pulled down a team-best 10 rebounds to garner her third affair on the campaign with double figure boards and her first since Nov. 29.

LSUA placed a trio of players in the double digits scoring led by Pearl Paulo with 15 points. Kayla Morgan added 14 points with 11 coming from Reagan Maricle. Lawrell Dobbins grabbed 11 rebounds to the lead the squad.

Centenary held the Generals to a 36.4 shooting clip from the field. The percentage is lowest this season for a Centenary opponent. LSUA shot 41.7 percent from behind the arc in the contest and was 63.6 percent from the charity stripe.

Centenary returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 10 as they travel to McNeese State University. Tip is slated for 7 p.m.
