SHERMAN, Texas – The Centenary women’s basketball team couldn’t overcome a 29-point halftime deficit as the Ladies dropped a 67-40 decision at Austin College on Saturday afternoon.

Jessica Bruti scored a season-high 16 points to lead the Ladies. The double figure outing marks the second straight for the freshman and her third this season.

Briana Edwards, who made her 64th career start which places her ninth in program history, paced the Maroon and White on the glass with 13 rebounds. The double-digit rebounding effort marks the 12th on the season for the Shreveport, La., junior.

Centenary, which outscored AC 23-21 in the second half, was held in check offensively in the contest as the squad managed just 21.5 percent from the floor and was 57.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Kendall Heitmeier led the Roos with 12 points on the day as Erin Riley added 10 points off the bench. Chrissy Ray paced the effort on the glass nine rebounds. Austin finished the night shooting 38.2 percent from the field, including a 30.4 clip from behind the arc. The Roos were 61.5 percent from the charity stripe.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, Feb. 13 as it hosts Texas Lutheran University. Tip is slated for 6 p.m.
