MONROE, La. – The Ladies could not overcome a disadvantage in second-chance points and points in the paint as Centenary fell to ULM (1-0) in an exhibition contest for the Maroon and White Friday afternoon, November 11. The game counts as a regular season game, as it was the 2016-17 home opener for ULM. The Warhawks used a 28-3 advantage in second-chance points and a 46-18 edge in points in the paint in the win. Sophomore Jasmine Morris led Centenary with nine points, while freshman Deunya Small added nine boards and six points. Down 83-31, Centenary scored the final eight points to wrap up the game. Sophomore Erin Temple split from the line. After consecutive defensive stands, freshman Essa Badon hit a triple and Morris hit a pair from the line. After a home team miscue, freshman Caitlinn Holt closed the game with a lay-up on a dime from classmate Sarah Faulhaber. Centenary was held to 60 percent (15-for-60) shooting for the contest. ULM used a two players for a majority of its points. Stephanie Ratliff scored 22 points on 10-for-16 shooting, adding the double-double with 11 rebounds. Alexis Collins scored 19 points and added a game-best five assists. Centenary opens up the 2016-17 season Tuesday night, November 15, at East Texas Baptist. Tip in Marshall, Texas, is set for 5:30 p.m. |
