CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – The Ladies led by as much as eight after the first quarter, but the Eagles used big runs in the second and fourth quarters as Centenary (2-4) fell to the University of Ozarks (5-3) 77-57 Thursday night, December 1.

Centenary made its first three shots from the field to take a quick 8-2 lead. Junior Peyton Hurst made a pair of threes around sophomore Jasmine Morris taking a defensive rebound coast-to-coast. Up 13-10, sophomore Savanah Doty hit a three and senior Linda Gomez Gil added a jumper in the paint. Centenary led 22-14 after the first quarter thanks to an 8-for-18 mark from the field (4-for-10 from beyond the arc).

Down nine in the third, Doty hit back-to-back threes to pull Centenary within 47-44. The Ladies trailed 55-50 after three quarters, but could not get any closer as Ozarks outscored Centenary 22-7 in the fourth quarter.

Hurst scored her collegiate bests in both points (18) and made threes (four). Doty came off the bench for 11 points. Freshman Deunya Small added 10 boards.

The Eagles used a 54-37 edge on the boards and a 38-18 advantage in points in the paint to beat Centenary.

Centenary led 27-22 halfway through the second, but Ozarks used a 13-1 run to take the lead for good. Rose Robinson made a pair of layups to cut the deficit to one. Morris split from the line, but a pair by Robinson from the line tied the game. Robinson and Hailey Ostrander both added a pair of free throws, and a Bryanna Moltz three pushed the Eagles lead to seven.

Ozarks led 39-31 at break.

Centenary pulled within five after three quarters, and trailed 57-52 in the fourth, but Ozarks scored 13 unanswered to put the game away. Diamond Goodwyn scored six during the run for Ozarks, including jumpers to start and finish the spurt.

Moltz led the home team with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Goodwyn came off the bench for 16 points and 15 rebounds, as both players managed double-doubles. Ostrander chipped in 16.

Centenary returns to action Monday, December 5, when it welcomes Millsaps in a rematch from two weeks ago. The Majors beat Centenary in Jackson, Mississippi, 76-64.
