Pair of Ladies Grab All-Conference Accolades

GEORGETOWN, Texas – In a vote of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s basketball coaches and released Saturday, February 25, Centenary Ladies basketball sophomores Jasmine Morris (Third Team) and Savanah Doty (Honorable Mention) were named All-Conference.

“Jasmine made great strides in her sophomore season on both ends of the floor. Finishing the regular season as the nation’s leader in free throw attempts and leading the league in scoring is an impressive accomplishment for someone in her second year of college basketball,” said head coach David Foley.  “Savanah also showed progress moving throughout the season. After recovering from a knee injury early in the season, she found her stride and had some big games for us.”

An Honorable Mention honoree last season, Morris leads the conference and is 99th in the nation with 16.9 points per game. However, she has picked up the rebounding in her second season, recording four double-doubles in 2016-17.

Finishing fifth in the nation with 155 made free throws, she scored a career best 29 points in the Ladies 76-63 win against Colorado College January 13.

Doty grabbed Honorable Mention accolades as she finished second on the team and is 17th in the conference with 10.3 points per game. Despite being a guard, she ranks third in the SCAC and 121st in the nation with 1.52 blocks per game.

“I am excited for the future of this program when looking towards my second season,” added Foley. “We have a hungry group that will be working very hard to keep pushing this program forward. We have a talented core group of young players that will be returning and will be adding a strong group of newcomers.

“Go Ladies!”
