MONROE, La. – The Ladies could not overcome a 29.2 shooting percentage (19-65), while the Warhawks countered with a 49.3 shooting percentage (33-67) as Centenary fell to ULM (1-0) 90-53 in the final exhibition for the Maroon and White and the season opener for ULM.

The bench scored 31 to lead the Ladies, including 12 from freshman Darelzray Bellard and 11 from classmate Kayla King.

Down 3-0, senior Savanah Doty drained a triple then found sophomore Deunya Small for a layup and the lone Ladies lead for the game.

With Centenary down 47-26 at half, ULM took advantage of a 30-11 edge in the third quarter to open up a 40-point lead. However, behind six-points from Bellard and King in the fourth quarter, Centenary outscored ULM 16-13 for the final 37-point margin.

Four scored in double-figures for ULM, led by Gabriella Cortez’s 21 points on 6-for-7 shooting – including hitting all three shots attempted from behind the arc. ULM went 10-for-19 (52.6 percent) from three for the game.

Centenary opens up the regular season Wednesday, November 15, when it welcomes East Texas Baptist to the Gold Dome. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
