Ladies Golf Claims Runner-Up Honors at “The Buc”; Three Individuals Finish Top-10

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. – The Centenary Ladies golf team concluded fall action in style, finishing as runner-up at “The Buc,” hosted by Christian Brothers University at the par-72 Germantown Country Club.

Three Maroon and White golfers claimed top-10 finishes, including sophomore Jessica Varner finishing tied for second with a three-day total of +26 (242)

The Ladies as a team finished with a three-round total of 1055 (+191), 81 strokes behind NCAA Division II Lewis. Centenary finished 21 strokes clear of Wheaton, 67 strokes better than host Christian Brothers, and 83 strokes ahead of Illinois College.

Varner tied Gabby David of Lewis at +26, 11 strokes behind Rachel Sweeney of Lewis. Sitting fourth after the first two rounds, Varner carded the best round of the final day to move into a tie for second.

Sophomore Taylor Adair matched her best round of the tournament with an 86 (+14) to finish with a total of 259 (+43). Freshman Erin Rostro rounded out the top-10 with a final round of 90 (+18) and a three-round total of 270 (+54).

Junior Toni Collaro carded a 101 (+29) to finish 18th with a 284 (+68). Freshman Erin Bastien placed 27th after a final round of 113 (+41) and a total of 317 (+101).

Varner’s runner-up finish is her fourth top-5 finish (and her third in her last four tournaments dating back to last year) and her sixth top-10 placing in her collegiate career.
