LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Ladies soccer freshman goalie Maggie Pitcher grabbed Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping Centenary (2-2-1, 2-0-1 SCAC) to a 0-0 draw with Texas Lutheran Friday and a 1-0 (OT) win against Southwestern Sunday.

“Maggie has been a calm presence for our backline this season,” said head coach Greg Cathell. “She shows great awareness when building out of the back and provides a keen sense of direction within our system. She’s done a great job as a freshman and we are very pleased with her progression.”

Sitting fourth in the conference in saves this season, Pitcher grabbed 15 saves on the weekend in recording her first two shutouts of her collegiate career. She stopped a season high 10 shots in the Ladies first tie in three years on Friday night against the Bulldogs. She added five more stops Sunday against the Pirates to bring her total to 31 saves for the season.

The SCAC-leading Ladies return to action Friday afternoon for their first road conference game against Dallas. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
