SHREVEPORT, La. – If Ladies sophomore Kyra Montes shot on goal on a through ball in the fourth minute was going to be any indication, it was going to be a good senior night on Friday, October 13.

The Maroon and White certainly proved this thought true.

Montes scored a pair of first half goals, and the Ladies picked up three crucial points in their quest to qualify for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament for the second-straight season as Centenary (4-8-1, 3-5-1 SCAC) knocked off Dallas (3-9-2, 2-6-1 SCAC) in the final home conference game of the season.

Centenary is now on a three-match home winning streak against Dallas dating back to the 2015 season, averaging three goals a game in the streak vs the Crusaders.

Centenary kept the pressure on the Crusaders, and a foul in the box in the 19th minute led to a penalty kick. Montes took the shot for the Ladies, and went right in the upper 90. She added her second goal of the game and third of the season in the 39th minute when she cleaned up sophomore Emilee Byrd’s blocked shot.

Montes led the game with five shots, three of which were on target.

The Ladies wasted no time celebrating, as 33 seconds later, sophomore Taylor Morgan found classmate Betza Bravo for her second goal of the season.

Sophomore Gabby Lovemore provided the capper, when a through ball by Byrd found Lovemore in stride for her second goal of the season.

Freshman goalie Maggie Pitcher recorded her third shutout of the season, saving all three shots faced. Centenary outshot Dallas 19-12 and 7-3 in shots on target.

Elena Nacarri took the loss in goal for Dallas, allowing a trio of goals on four shots faced in the first half.

Centenary returns to action next Friday, October 20, when it travels to take on nationally-ranked Trinity. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
