Ladies Can't Answer Northeastern State's Offense

TAHLEQUAH, Okla.-The Centenary women's soccer team fell 9-0 on the road at Northeastern State University on Saturday evening in non-conference action.

The Ladies (2-2) were held to just three shots by the Northeastern State defense as senior Candace Rushing and juniors Holden Penney and Traci Lee made Centenary's attempts.

Northeastern State scored three goals in the first seven minutes of play then added a goal off a penalty shot at the 25-minute mark to go up 4-0. Its offense continued with a fifth goal at the 40-minute mark to take a 5-0 lead into halftime.

The home team picked up four more goals in the final 45 minutes of play for the win.

Centenary was outshot 27-3 as 19 came in the first half.

Ladies goal keeper Brittaney Dunn played all 90 minutes in goal for her fourth game in a row, collecting nine saves, while the team made one save for 10 on the game.

Centenary will return to action when it hosts LSUS on Monday, Sept. 12 at 5 pm on Mayo Field. The "Mayor's Cup" event will benefit the March of Dimes.
