KERRVILLE, Texas – Sophomore forward Carly Slovensky helped Centenary overcome a first-half 1-0 deficit against Schreiner with a goal in the 32nd minute, leading to a double overtime 1-1 tie in women’s soccer action. The Ladies (0-0-1) return to the field Monday at noon at Texas Lutheran (0-0-0), which will make its 2012 debut. Schreiner fell to 0-1-1 with the loss. Madison Alexander picked up her first assist of the year, setting up Slovenksy’s game-tying score. SU’s Lacey Warner scored the game’s first goal in the 23rd minute with an assist from Karen Harlow. Centenary outshot Shreiner 13-11, including 3-0 in the first overtime. Sophomore goalkeeper Brittaney Dunn lasted the entire 110 minutes, collecting six saves. Her counterpart, Paige Horner, swatted away seven of the Ladies shots. Along with her assist, Alexander fired a game-high four shots, all on goal. SU’s Rebecca Chiaro also attempted four. The Ladies lone senior, Allie Cortes, took three shots while Slovensky took two, both on goal, including the game-tying score. |
