LONGVIEW, Texas – Both Centenary soccer teams take balanced offensive attacks to LeTourneau Tuesday for a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. The Ladies (1-1-1) start the day’s contests against the YellowJackets (0-5), which has been outscored 19-3 on the season. The Gents (1-2) and LeTourneau’s men (0-4) are slated to kick off at 7 o’clock. Madison Alexander, Amanda Atwell and Carly Slovensky lead the Ladies offense, each scoring a goal on the young season. Alexander leads Centenary in points with three, adding an assist. Alexander and Slovensky are the only Ladies with double-digit shots, each with 10, helping to outshoot their opponents 49-34. The Ladies hold a 19-17 advantage in first half shots, but posts a 27-16 edge in the final 45 minutes. The Gents aim to snap a two-game losing streak after starting the year with a win, and need to rebuild before Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) play starts Sept. 21. “This is a great opportunity to bounce back from the past two losses,” Gents head coach David Orr said. “We feel we could’ve been more successful in both of them. This is a good opportunity to put them behind us and retool for the rest of the year. There’s only a week and a half until conference, so this game needs to be a stepping stone of where we need to be.” Adam Ghaemmaghami and Zachary Kidder scored the Gents only goals on the year, but have only been outscored 3-2, both losses by a single goal. |
