Alexander leads Ladies past Hendrix
SHREVEPORT – Madison Alexander scored both goals for Centenary Sunday afternoon as the Ladies downed visiting Hendrix College 2-1 in women’s soccer action. The Ladies jumped to 3-2-1, dropping Hendrix to 4-4. Centenary returns to action Friday with a Southern Collegiate Athletic Contest against the nation’s top-ranked team, Trinity University. Alexander poured in her first goal near the end of the 26th minute, off a rare assist from goalie Brittaney Dunn. Dunn used a goalie punt to set up Alexander, who went 30 yards to fire from 15 yards out from the left corner. Mel Roach knotted things at 1-1 nearly nine minutes later off a corner kick, assisted by Rebecca Rahn. Alexander’s game-winner came six yards out on a second-chance shot in the 63rd minute, her first game-winner. With the two scores, Alexander leads the Ladies with 10 points (four goals, two assists), followed by Carly Slovensky with four goals. |
