28 Fall Athletes Named to SCAC Scholar List

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – A total of 28 fall Centenary athletes were named to the Southern Athletic Conference Scholar List for the fall 2016 semester, announced the conference offices.

“It is wonderful that half of our fall athletes receive Academic All-Conference recognition, said Director of Athletics and Recreation Bob Bunnell. “Their commitment to academics, as well as athletics, is obvious and commendable.”

According to the SCAC, “To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the term and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a sport sponsored by the conference.”

The Gents soccer team was represented by 12 individuals, Ladies soccer garnered 10 honorees, while six volleyball student-athletes were named to the list.

Representing the Gents soccer team are seniors Shane Edmondson, Jeremy Klespis, and Rylan Whan; junior Kaleb Behm; sophomores Nick Hammond and Alex Pecina; and freshmen Alejandro Barboza, Nic Douthit, Scott Halper, Alex Long, Lamarr Meza, and Max Wamsley.

For Ladies soccer, seniors Erica Coker, Marissa Hughes, and Hannah Jo Wright; juniors Emily Duet, Connor Harwood, and Riley Spudic; and freshmen Emilee Byrd, Serena Gallegos, Olivia Jackson, and Haley Parker received this honor.

Sophomores Michaela Brantley, Amanda Farr, Shannon Orlopp, and Shyann Pisano with freshmen Kristian Loving and Marissa Sandoval of Ladies volleyball made the Scholars List.

Coker, Hammond, Hughes, and Whan all received All-Conference accolades for their respective sports, as well. Farr and Klespis were named to the SCAC Fall Sportsmanship Teams.
