LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Centenary sophomore Ladies soccer player Betzabet Bravo has been named Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, announced the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference on Monday afternoon, September 11.

“Betza’s worked very hard this season to be a player we’ve grown to rely on,” said Ladies soccer head coach Greg Cathell. “She shows composure in the midfield and helps us keep possession of the ball. Betza is a person you never have to ask for more from, as she always puts her very best into everything she does. We couldn’t be happier to have her as a member of the Ladies soccer team.”

In the Ladies only contest of the week on Friday against Austin College, she scored the first goal of her collegiate career on a pass from junior Liz Knight in the 36th minute to tie the game at one. In the second half, her deflection off a pass from sophomore Kyra Montes found freshman Pamela Fonseca in what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 71st minute.

The Ladies beat the ‘Roos 2-1 in the first SCAC game for both teams on the season. Centenary improved to 1-2 on the season overall.

Centenary returns to action Friday night when it takes on Texas Lutheran. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
