SEGUIN, Texas – The Ladies managed seven shots on target in the second half – including a goal and a shot that hit the post – but the Bulldogs scored with seconds remaining as Centenary (3-6-1, 2-4-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell to Texas Lutheran (4-6-1, 4-2-1 SCAC) 3-1 Friday afternoon, October 6.

Trailing 2-0 at half, the Ladies were awarded a corner kick in the 60th minute. Sophomore Emilee Byrd put the ball in the box. With it loose, the Bulldogs goalie came out, and sophomore Betzabet Bravo found freshman Pamela Fonseca for her second goal of the season.

The Ladies put the pressure on Texas Lutheran with six shots on target in the next 28 minutes, also with a shot by junior Liz Knight off the post, to try and tie the match. However, the Bulldogs Katie Morton scored her second goal of the game with six seconds remaining to close the match.

Freshman Maggie Pitcher took the loss, grabbing seven saves on 10 shots faced. Her counterpart, Stephanie Barrientos, tallied seven saves in the win.

Raquel Morris started the scoring for Texas Lutheran in the seventh minute when she finished a centering header from Jaclyn Mottis. Morris scored her first goal of the game 14 minutes later.

Centenary returns to the pitch Sunday, October 8, when it takes on Southwestern. Kick off from Georgetown, Texas, is set for noon.
