GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Ladies outshout their opponents 20-7, including 9-1 on shots on target, but the Pirates made the most of their one opportunity as Centenary (3-7-1, 2-5-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell to Southwestern (2-9, 2-6 SCAC) 1-0 Sunday afternoon, October 8.

Centenary outshot Southwestern 11-2 in total shots, including 6-0 on shots on target, in the first half alone, but both team stood scoreless at halftime. For the game, sophomores Kyra Montes and Gabby Lovemore, with freshman Pamela Fonseca, led the team with two shots on goal each.

However, Southwestern goalie Kylie Hunt stopped all six shots faced in the first half, and Mary Cardone grabbed all three faced in the second half for the Pirates in the shutout win.

Southwestern scored the game winner in the 53rd minute. Mady Akers found Malorie Lara, who scored her first goal of the season from just outside the box.

Centenary returns to action Tuesday night, October 10, when it travels to Pineville to take on rival Louisiana College. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
