Tapia and Harrison Finish All-Conference, Ladies and Gents 4th at SCAC Championships

LEWISVILLE, Texas – Senior Juan Tapia in the 200 breaststroke and junior Zack Harrison in the 100 free finished runner-up and earned All-Conference honors, while as a team, the Gents and Ladies finished fourth of seven teams on the final day of the 2017 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Swimming Championships.

Centenary finished with 496.5 points on the men’s side, while the Ladies racked up 334. Trinity won the women’s championship with 1,042.5 points, while the Tigers took the men’s title by only 5.5 points over Southwestern, 882.5-877.

Tapia finished his Centenary career by taking second in the 200 breaststroke with a school-record time time of 2:09.20. He also touched the wall in 2:00.13 in the 200 backstroke to finish sixth.

Finally, Tapia joined up with Harrison, junior Anthony McDonald and freshman Eddie Dyess to finish fourth in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:11.32.

The Ladies 400 free relay team of junior Caitlyn Faulhaber, senior Cameron Barney, sophomore Elena Ring and freshman Tori Boyle also took fourth, finishing in 3:49.01.

Boyle also took sixth in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:40.39 and 10th in the 1650 free (20:29.72).

Harrison captured runner-up honors in the 100 free with a time of 46.70.

In the 1650 free, freshman Jordan St. Pierre just missed out on an All-Conference spot, placing fourth with a time of 16:51.59, the sixth-best mark in the Gents record book. Dyess’ mark of 17:13.01 placed him sixth and sits 10th in the Gents record book. Sophomore Harrison Folse took eighth with a time of 17:54.85.

Sophomore Rebecca Dunn took ninth for the Ladies in the 1650 free with a time of 20:09.90.
