SEGUIN, Texas – The Centenary Gents Basketball team received multiple honors when the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference released the All-Conference teams late Saturday night, February 23, after the semifinals of the 2019 Conference Tournament Semifinals.
SEGUIN, Texas – The Gents Basketball team rallied from a seven-point, halftime deficit to take a lead late in the game, but the Tigers came back from four down to claim the win as third-seeded Centenary (13-13) fell to sixth-seeded Trinity (7-19) 65-63 in the Quarterfinals of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Friday night, February 22.
SEGUIN, Texas – After knocking off Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Co-Champion Texas Lutheran for the second time on the year last Sunday, the Gents Basketball team (13-12) earned the third seed in the upcoming SCAC Tournament, Friday February 22-Sunday, February 24.
The tournament will be contested at Texas Lutheran in Seguin, Texas.
SEGUIN, Texas – With the top four seeds of the upcoming Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament in the balance on one outcome, the Gents stepped up to complete the season sweep of the Conference Regular Season Champion Bulldogs as Centenary (13-12, 10-6 SCAC) knocked off Texas Lutheran (16-9, 11-5 SCAC) 73-65 Sunday afternoon, February 17.
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – You could not write a better script for senior Gents Basketball Player Treylan Matthews in three games during Senior Week. Coming off an easy career high in his penultimate contest in the Gold Dome and a spectacular second half that helped Centenary rally from a double-digit deficit in his final game in the Dome, Matthews grabbed SCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors for the second time this season.
SHREVEPORT, La. – The Gents Basketball never led for the first 39:58.4 of the game, but a big three tied the game up late in the fourth before senior Treylan Matthews hit the winning jumper with 1.6 left in the contest as Centenary (12-11, 9-5 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) knocked off Johnson & Wales (17-7, 10-5 SCAC) 61-59 Saturday night, February 9.
SHREVEPORT, La. – For the second straight year, Gents Basketball needed a win against the Tigers to clinch an SCAC Tournament berth. And for this second straight season, they used a big second half comeback to accomplish this feat.
IRVING, Texas – It was not a once in a 40-year span defense like the Gents had in game one against the Crusaders, but it was a defensive that helped the Gents pick up a critical Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road win.
KERRVILLE, Texas – Entering the season with a six-game losing streak to the Mountaineers, Gents Basketball had not swept the season series with them since 2014-15. It took five minutes of extra fun, but Centenary (9-10, 6-4 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) completed the regular season sweep of Schreiner (8-10, 4-5 SCAC) 71-66 Friday night, February 1.
SAN ANTONIO – Down by nine with three minutes left, the Gents were able to cut the deficit to a single possession and had the ball late with a chance to tie or win, but the Tigers forced a turnover and ran out the clock as Centenary (9-11, 6-5 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell to Trinity (5-17, 5-8 SCAC) 75-73 Saturday night, February 2.
SHERMAN, Texas – The Gents were able to cut a 20-point deficit to four with about two minutes left in the game, but the ‘Roos were able to hold on to a lead the entire contest as Centenary (7-10, 4-4 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell to Austin College (7-10, 4-4 SCAC) 76-68 Tuesday night, January 22.
SHREVEPORT, La. – The Gents recorded double-digit blocks for the first time in their Division III era and tied the overall school record as Centenary (7-9, 4-3 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) upended Austin College (6-10, 2-5 SCAC) 77-56 Friday night, January 18.
DENVER – The Gents led for virtually all of the first 36 minutes of the game, but the Wildcats put together a major run to rally for the double-digit victory as Centenary (5-9, 3-3 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell at Johnson & Wales (11-5, 4-3 SCAC) 77-67 Saturday night, January 5.
SHREVEPORT, La. – The Gents held a three-point led at the break and led by as much as seven in the second half, but the Pirates got hot from the field in the final 10 minutes to pull away for the double-digit win as Centenary (3-8, 1-2 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell to Southwestern (6-6, 3-0 SCAC) 80-69 Saturday night, December 28.
SHREVEPORT, La. – The Gents were looking to even their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference record in its final contest of 2018. An amazing first half that saw the Gents take a 50-10 lead – mission accomplished.

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Gents made a season low nine miscues and freshman Ty Prince added a season high five three-pointers as Centenary (2-6) upended East Texas Baptist (5-3) 75-69 Saturday night, December 15, in the third game of the 2018 Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission Holiday Classic at the Gold Dome.
SHREVEPORT, La. – The Gents trailed by as much as nine in the second half but hit a layup with eight seconds left to lead by one. However, the hoop and harm with 2.6 seconds left helped the Yellow Jackets claim the two-point win as Centenary (1-6) fell to Howard Payne (1-6) 73-71 Thursday night, November 29.
JACKSON, Miss. – The Gents jumped out to an early nine-point lead, but a 34-10 advantage in points in the paint by the Majors proved to be the difference as Centenary (1-5) lost at Millsaps (6-0) 70-55 Tuesday night, November 27.
MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Gents stayed close for the majority of the first half, but a run right before intermission that extended to the second half gave the Weevils the victory as Centenary (1-4) fell to NCAA Division II Arkansas-Monticello (2-2) 80-51 Saturday afternoon, November 24.
CONWAY, Ark. – The Gents were able to tie the game late after trailing by seven with 2:41 left, but the Warriors used a 25-13 edge in points off turnovers in the win as Centenary (1-2) fell to Hendrix (2-1) 64-62 in the final game of day one of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Association/Southern Athletic Association Classic Saturday night, November 17.
CONWAY, Ark. – The Gents Basketball team used hot shooting from behind the arc to overcome a 20-point deficit to send the game to overtime, but the Majors built an 8-point lead in OT and held on for the win as Centenary (1-3) fell to Millsaps (2-1) 81-76 in OT on the final day of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference/Southern Athletic Association Classic Sunday afternoon, November 18.
