BOSSIER CITY, La.�-Led by junior Mark Weeber's two-round score of 141, the Centenary men's golf team finishes day one in second place at the Hal Sutton Intercollegiate held at Stonebridge Golf Club on Monday. The Gents are just two strokes behind Sam Houston State, who leads with a 610.
Weeber finished round one with a 71, but managed to stay consistently strong throughout the day shooting an impressive 70 to close out the round two, three under par. The Zimbabwe native is seven stokes ahead of SHSU's Fergal Rafferty (73-75) who completed the day with a two-round score of 148.
For the Gents, freshman Denver Green (77-78, 155) is tied for fifth, while junior Nick Faitz (82-75, 157) sits in ninth place. Rounding out day one scores for Centenary are junior Tyler Williams (78-81, 159), tied for 11th and sophomore teammate Greg Berthelot (89-83, 172), tied for 25th.
As individuals, senior John Hogan (78-75) is in fourth place with a two-round score of 153, while sophomore Ryan Sparks (81-81) tallied a score of 162 to finish tied for 17th
Behind Sam Houston and Centenary is McNeese with a team score of 639, North Dakota State with a 660, and North Dakota with a 664.
The Hal Sutton Intercollegiate will conclude on Tuesday at Stonebridge Golf Club beginning at 8:30 a.m.
