OKATIE, S.C. - Brevard wrapped up play at the Pfeiffer Invitational on Tuesday afternoon, improving on their first-round score by nine strokes to finish one stroke shy of equaling Southern Wesleyan for 15th place.
Courtney Sharp's career-low 81 in Monday's first round propelled her to a 64th-place overall finish. Taylor Scovel was next for the Tornados in a tie for 76th position, improving on her first-round score by 10 strokes to finish the tournament with a 184.
Kelsie Rhyne and Maddie Lutz improved by eight and five strokes, respectively, to finish just behind Scovel in 79th and 80th positions. ZeAijah Mooney's score did not count toward the team total but indicated significant improvement in Day Two, reducing her first-round total by 17 strokes.
Mount Olive won the tournament by two strokes over Armstrong State with a two-day score of 598, 22 strokes over par. Queens was the South Atlantic Conference's top representative with a fourth-place score of 53 over.
Mount Olive's Paula Guridi was the only player to finish under par, winning the tournament at two under. Lenoir-Rhyne's Abbey Hartsell was the only SAC golfer on the all-tournament team, finishing in fourth place at three strokes over par.
Brevard will compete again next Monday and Tuesday at the Coker Invitational in Hartsville, South Carolina.
