HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Brevard College's women's golf began play in the Coker Invitational on Monday morning, sitting in fifth place after the first day of competition.
Kelsie Rhyne led the Tornados in the opening round with an 88 overall score to sit in 14th place overall. Courtney Sharp also finished in the top 20 after 18 holes with a 91 score to be in a tie for 18th place.
ZeAijah Mooney, participating in the event as an unattached independent, finished three strokes behind teammate Sharp and ended the round in a four-way tie for 21st place. Taylor Scovel, Maddie Lutz and Kindle Kirkham round out the Tornados' roster with tallies of 97, 98 and 100.
South Atlantic Conference foes Lincoln Memorial and host Coker finished day one in the top two spots with scores of 313 and 326. Mars Hill ended the day 10 strokes ahead of the royal blue and white with a 364 score. Individually, Reagan Greene of LMU finished the round with a score of 75 to lead the field.
Brevard concludes play at the Coker Invitational tomorrow, Mar. 15, with tee times for the Tornados scheduled between 8:30-9:10 a.m.
