ABILENE, Texas - Freshman Taylor Adair turned in a season-best tournament while classmate Jessica Varner turned in another top-10 finish as the Centenary women's golf team finished sixth with a 682 (+114) at the Abilene Intercollegiate Tuesday, October 27.
"This was our best score of the fall," said head coach Emlyn Aubrey. "We beat some opponents head-to-head, and Taylor Adair continued with her career best. We finished on a high note for spring competition."
Mary-Hardin Baylor shot 622 (+54) to win the tournament, overcoming a first day, three-shot deficit to defeat UT-Tyler by three strokes (625, +57). The Ladies knocked off Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference-foe Texas Lutheran by 32 strokes (714, +146) and Concordia (722, +154).
Varner finished tied for eighth, firing a 158 (+16), Adair and senior Jamie Wright tied for 16th with a two-day total of 165 (+23). Sophomore Haley Nidey finished 41st with a two-day score
