Rylan Whan is currently beginning his third season as an assistant coach for Ladies soccer in 2019 after a successful four-year career as a goalkeeper for the Gents soccer team.
2016 Senior Season: Named Second Team All-Conference as a goalie for leading the conference and finished 32nd in the country with 112 saves, the fourth-best mark for a season in school history... Finished his career with 404 saves, becoming the first Gent with more than 400 saves in school history... His 1.68 goal-allowed average was the best in his four-year career, and his career 2.16 GAA is the fifth-best career GAA in school history... Doubled his career shutouts in his final season, finishing his career with eight shutouts (fifth in school history)... His four scoreless games for the season is ninth-best in school history... Held Dallas and Austin College scoreless in his final two games of his career, both Gents 1-0 wins... Started 18 games between the pipes in 2016... Wrapped up his career by being named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week October 31... Named to the SCAC Scholars List after the fall 2016 semester.
2015 Junior Season: Finished the season with 115 saves, which is tied for the second-most stops in Gents soccer history… Finished 19th in the country with 7.67 saves per game, which is the ninth-best mark in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference history and the best tally since 2008… Appeared in 15 games with 14 starts… Finished the season 3-11 with a shutout… Grabbed the victory in the Gents first win against Southwestern, 2-1, on September 20… Reached double-digit saves four times, including 13 against Concordia on September 4, the fourth-most in a single game in program history… Named to the SCAC All-Sportsmanship Men’s Soccer Team.
2014 Sophomore Season: Played in 16 games and made 15 starts in goal… Finished 35th in the country and led the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with 109 saves (6.81 saves per game)… Completed the season with a 2-10-3 record with four shutouts… Held Howard Payne scoreless as the Gents won 1-0 on Sept. 6… Picked up a shutout as Centenary claimed a 2-0 win against Dallas Sept. 26… Held Austin scoreless in a tie September 28... Named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week for holding Dallas and Austin scoreless... Two of three ties were scoreless shutouts… averaged allowing 1.98 goals per game, 1.34 goals allowed average if you take off the two games against nationally-ranked Trinity.
2013 Freshman Season: Played in 12 matches for the Gents including eight starts in goal… Tallied more than 667 minutes in net… Recorded 68 saves during his freshman campaign… Totaled a career-high 11 saves against Schreiner on Oct. 6 … Picked up his first win of the season against Dallas on October 27.
Prior to Centenary: Graduated from McKinney HS… Played in goal for the Lions… Named the 2013 District 10-5A Goalkeeper of the Year… Earned TASCO All-State and First Team All-District honors… Helped lead McKinney to the Regional Quarterfinals.
