New Era Begins: SCAC Scores Big with Addition of Two New Schools
Today, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) officially welcomed Hendrix College and LeTourneau University as core members.
SUWANEE, Ga. -- Today, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) officially welcomed Hendrix College and LeTourneau University as core members.
LeTourneau University was announced as a future conference member on April 25, 2024, and Hendrix College accepted membership on June 11, 2024. With Southwestern University and Trinity University exiting the conference, LeTourneau and Hendrix will become the conference's 11th and 12th members.
On the affiliate membership front, Asbury University's tenure as an SCAC men's and women's swimming and diving member officially takes hold today, maintaining the league's membership totals at eight men's and eight women's teams in front of the 2026 championship event.
Among other highlights heading into the 2025-26 season, the league's men's and women's soccer championships will move to Round Rock Multisport Complex in Round Rock, Texas (Nov. 6-7, 9) where the event will expand to a top-six format for the first time since the 2020-21 tournament.
Additionally, the SCAC will hold its inaugural football championship weekend on Saturday, November 15 at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Arkansas. All six teams will qualify for the event with the fifth/sixth seed game at 11 am CT; the third/fourth seed game scheduled to kickoff at 3 pm CT, culminating with the conference championship game at 7 pm CT between the No. 1 and 2 seeds.
The conference baseball tournament (Thursday-Sunday, April 30-May 3, 2026) will also expand to a top-six qualification event, with its destination still to be determined.
Administratively, the league's leadership council officially rotated to University of Dallas as Dr. Jonathan Sanford will serve as chair of the SCAC Presidents Council and Jarred Samples will take over as chair of the conference's Athletic Directors Council for the 2025-26 academic year.
