David Orr is currently in his third year as the Assistant Athletic Director for Recreation and Facilities/Director of Compliance for 2019-20. He was elevated to to the position for 2017-18 after spending the 2014-16 seasons as Head Coach of Ladies soccer.
Orr also added the title of Title IX Coordinator for Centenary College in 2018-19.
Prior to taking the helm of Ladies soccer, he spent the previous six seasons as the head coach of the Gents men's soccer program. Orr took over the women's program after Glenn Evans, a fixture in the history of Centenary soccer, retired following the 2012 season.
In three seasons with the Ladies, the squad improved from nine goals and a 1-17-1 record in 2014 to 31 goals, a 7-11 record, and an appearance in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. In 2016, seniors Erika Coker and Marissa Hughes, along with sophomore Katie-Jayde Cunningham, grabbed Second Team All-Conference honors from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
The three All-Conference selections were the most for the Ladies since the 2004 season.
Coker finished as the career leader in saves with 446, grabbing a personal season-best 120 saves, the second-most ever in a single season in a Ladies soccer season. Garnering Second Team All-Conference accolades for the second-straight season, she led the Maroon and White and finished ninth in the conference with four assists. Hughes also finished second on the team with five goals.
Cunningham rounds out the Ladies All-Conference honorees. In her only season with the program, she made an immediate impact for the Maroon and White, scoring the first goal of the 2016 season when she dribbled and spun around a defender and went far post against Belhaven. She led the team and finished third in both goals scored (11) and points (26).
In 2015, the Ladies finished the season 2-15. Eventual Second Team All-Conference honoree Hughes began the season on a bright note, netting a hat trick and an assist in the Ladies 4-2 win against East Texas Baptist to begin the season.
In 2014, Orr guided Second Team All-Conference performers Riley Spudic and Madison Alexander. Alexander was honored for the third-straight season and led the team with three goals. One of the best defenders in the conference, Spudic scored her lone goal of the season against nationally-ranked Trinity, breaking their then nine-match scoreless streak.
In six seasons with the Gents, Orr guided the squad to a 31-63-5 record, including a 13-win season in 2011 – the first season in Division III. During his time at Centenary, Orr has coached six all-conference performers and four conference players of the week.
Orr donned the Gents soccer uniform during his four-year collegiate career, which culminated with his graduation in 1996. As a student-athlete, Orr helped lead Centenary to 27 wins in four years, and each year the Gents win total increased.
Prior to returning to Centenary, Orr served as the Director of Coaching for Texas Longhorns Soccer Club, Inc., based out of Richardson, Texas. He spent five years overseeing the management of coaches and assessing 15 staff coaches. He also developed and implemented a college recruiting program and coordinated college seminars for The Dallas Cup, one of the world's most prestigious youth soccer tournaments.
In 2004-05, Orr was the head coach at Mountain View College and he assisted with all aspects of recruiting, training, budgeting, and scheduling in the four years he spent working with former coach Jed Jones at Centenary. Under Orr and Jones' guidance, the Gents went from a 4-12 record in 2000 to a 14-5 mark in 2002.
Orr also has coaching experience in the Shreveport area, having formerly been the head coach at Captain Shreve High School from 1995 to 1998. He coached the Gators to two playoff appearances in three years. He was also the goalkeepers coach for the Dallas Texans and played professionally for the Shreveport-Bossier Lions of the USISL.
Orr is married to the former Catherine Hudson and the couple has two children. They reside in Shreveport.
