Baseball Faces Millsaps In Home Finale On Wednesday
The Centenary baseball team will play its final home game of the season on Wednesday evening as the Diamond Gents will face the Millsaps College Majors in a non-conference contest set for 6 p.m. at Shehee Stadium.

The Diamond Gents (16-20) took two of three at home over the weekend in conference play against the University of Dallas Crusaders, sweeping a doubleheader in dominating fashion, winning both by run-rule- 14-2 in game one and 14-1 in game two, before falling 10-6 on Saturday afternoon on Senior Day. Centenary honored its 2025 senior class following the game. The Diamond Gents are 11-12 at home this season.
The Majors (27-11) have won three games in a row and are 6-6 on the road this season. Centenary leads the all-time series with Millsaps, 9-4, as the teams will meet for the first time since the Diamond Gents recorded a 17-7 victory on March 9, 2022 in Shreveport.
Centenary is hitting .267 as a team with a with a .380 OBP and slugging percentage of .365. The Diamond Gents have hit 13 home runs and collected 304 hits of which 76 are extra-base hits. Centenary's pitching staff has a 5.91 ERA, with 222 strikeouts in 301.2 IP.
The Diamond Gents had one of their best offensive outputs of the season this past weekend as they scored 38 runs, banged out 34 hits, stole 11 bases, belted five homers, and had 11 doubles and a pair of triples.
Junior LF Lenny Forth (Flower Mound, Texas) was named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week on Monday after he was red-hot over the weekend, finishing a sizzling 8-for-11 (.727) with a .750 OBP and slugged a whopping 1.273 with eight RBI, a home run, three doubles, and seven runs scored. Forth also stole two bases and did not strike out in his 11 at-bats all weekend. Forth was 4-for-4 with a career-high five RBI, four runs scored, and a pair of doubles in a 14-1 win in game two of a DH on Friday and finished 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, a home run, and a double in Saturday's series finale.
Senior LHP Tyler Herrera (Spring, Texas) and freshman LHP Roman Ardoin (Lumberton, Texas) each tossed complete games in Centenary's DH sweep on Friday as Herrera was outstanding in the final home start of his star-studded career as he allowed just two runs, both earned, and three hits in his seven innings of work with two walks and five strikeouts. The lefty did not allow a hit until the fourth inning and did not allow a run until the seventh. The CG and shutout were Herrera's seventh and third respectively in his career. Herrera is ranked in the top five in the conference in ERA (3.78), strikeouts (56), and innings pitched (64.1). He is 5-3 in 12 games (11 starts).
Ardoin threw his first-carer CG as he went seven innings and allowed one earned run on five hits with a BB and two K's. He faced 23 batters and threw 62 pitches- 42 for strikes. Ardoin improved to 3-4 on the season and threw a season-high in innings after going 6.2 in a 9-2 win over Ozarks at home on March 30.
Centenary, 12-15 in conference play, will return to SCAC action this weekend as the Diamond Gents finish their 2025 season against the McMurry University War Hawks (28-9, 19-8 SCAC) in Abilene, Texas. The series begins on Friday at 7 PM and concludes on Saturday with a DH starting at 1 PM.
