Bio

Carmody enters his second season as the Assistant Special Teams/Kicking Coach as he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Gents. Carmody, a Shreveport native who attended Loyola College Prep, went on to kick collegiately at the University of Louisville.

He helped the Centenary football program complete its historic 2024 season 4-6 overall and 4-4 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play as the sport returned to campus for the first time in over a half-century.

Carmody helped two Gents - Junior WR Kobe Chambers (Greenwood, Miss.) and sophomore QB/LB Vance Feuerbacher (Plano, Texas) thrive on special teams as each earned All-SCAC honors. Chambers staked his claim as one of the most electric players in the conference as he was the league leader in all-purpose yards (1,202) with an average of 120.2 per game, finished third in the SCAC in receiving yards, and led the SCAC in kick return average (22.4) as he returned 27 kicks for 606 yards with a long of 80 and scored one TD. He ranked second in the league in receptions per game, and third in receiving yards/game. He had a team-leading 49 receptions and six TD's with a pair of 100-yard receiving games. He ranked 54th nationally in all-purpose yards and was named to the D3football.com All-Region Team.

Feuerbacher cemented himself as one of the conference's top all-around players as he played linebacker and quarterback and punted and kicked during the season. He finished 10th in the league in total offense, averaging 36.9 yards per game, tied for 11th place in the conference in tackles and averaged 5.0 per game. He ranked second in the conference in punting (373. Average) with a long of 50 and punted 28 times. He was 4-6 on field goal attempts with a long of 38 and finished 13-15 on PAT's.

Carmody won the Lou Groza Award in 2006, a prestigious honor awarded to the nation's top kicker, and at the time he left college both his career PAT's and Points Scored by Kicker were NCAA Records. Upon Carmody's graduation from Louisville, he held 21 of 22 school kicking records and his career long FG made was an impressive 51 yards.

Carmody, who was an All-State selection in both baseball and football in high school, was named a Second-Team All-American by the Associated Press in 2006 and earned Honorable-Mention All-American honors that same season by Sports Illustrated. He was a three-time First-Team All-Big East selection (2005-07), an Academic All-Big East selection in 2005 and 2006, and named the Louisville Special Teams Player of the Year in 2004, 2006, and 2007

He was a member of the 2004 Conference USA Championship Team that went 11-1 and won the Liberty Bowl, part of the 2006 Big East Championship Team that went 12-1 and won the Orange Bowl, and played in the 2008 Hula Bowl College All-Star Game. In 49 career games for Louisville, Carmody was a stellar 60-73 (82.2 %) on field goals and 253-255 on PAT's and accumulated 433 career points.
