After battling several season-ending injuries, senior Laura Loy has made the decision to forego competing on the Ladies gymnastics team this year and will assist head coach Gretchen Goerlitz as a student coach.

 

"I am looking forward to having Laura helping out and being an extra set of eyes in the gym. Having her in the gym will be an asset to the Ladies gymnastics team for the 2010-2011 season," said Goerlitz.

 

2010: Did not compete due to an injury

 

2009: Laura did not compete and received a medical redshirt

 

2008: Laura enjoyed an impressive debut season as a freshman on the Ladies squad. Her work on the beam was outstanding, leading to an NCAA Regional appearance. She was named a USAG first team All-American on the event and recorded a season-high 9.925 on the beam at the USAG National Championships. She averaged a score of 9.721 and posted a 9.800 or better five times on the year. Laura also competed in Centenary’s regular line-up on the vault, scoring a best 9.675, and on the floor, recording a high of 9.750.

 

High School: Laura graduated from Flower Mound High School in 2007.

 

Club: Laura was a member of Top Flight Gymnastics for seven years under the tutelage of coaches Scott Taylor, LeAnn Sweny, and Donny Yarros.

Vault: 9.675, Beam: 9.925, Floor: 9.75

 

Personal: Born on April 17, 1989 in Lewisville, Texas, Laura is the daughter of Kathy and Gerald Loy and calls Flower Mound, Texas her home. She has one sister. She is majoring in health and exercise science and plans to be a college gymnastics coach.
