BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Ciara Maradiaga wrapped up the season in style with a top-five finish on the balance beam at the USAG Collegiate National Championships, earning her first-team All-America honors.
"She did a great job of representing Centenary in the event finals," head coach Jackie Fain said. "She is a beautiful beam worker and she went out there today and competed against the best in the country. I am very proud of Ciara for all of her hard work and improvement this year."
Maradiaga posted a 9.775 in a fifth-place tie with Stephanie Wagner of Seattle Pacific University. Monica Mesalles Sallares (University of Bridgeport) edged Cornell's Melania Standridge with a 9.875. Standridge finished second at 9.850.
Maraidaga, the 4-foot-11 sophomore posted season-best marks and career-best marks twice on beam this year, both 9.825, Jan. 28 and Feb. 17.
Robyn Price, Meg Crowley and Amanda Holt earned second-team All-American honors for their respective performances. Price earned All-American honors in the all-around after posting a 38.400 while Crowley marked a 9.775 on floor exercise and Holt posted a 9.800 showing on vault.
