Bio
Joseph Hodges enters his fourth season as Assistant Coach for the Ladies.
The Centenary gymnastics program capped one of its most memorable seasons in history after serving as host for the 2025 Women's Collegiate Gymnastics National Invitational Championships April 11-13 at the Gold Dome.
The prestigious event, formerly named the USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championships, featured the host Ladies along with the University of Alaska, the University of Bridgeport, Greenville University, Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO), Southern Connecticut State University, Texas Woman's University, and West Chester University and eight individuals also competed.
Hodges helped guide the Ladies to a very successful 2024 season and was recognized by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association as Assistant Coach of the Year for the Northeast Region for the second year in a row.
Last season the Ladies sent six student-athletes to compete at Nationals at West Chester University in Pennsylvania. The Six Ladies who qualified are sophomore Amy Foret, senior Rylie Molina, sophomore Sophie Schmitz, senior Lacey Wedge, freshman Olivia Williams, and senior Izzie Plaza.
Williams finished 13th on Floor at Nationals with a score of 9.66, and was named a First Team All-American by USA Gymnastics.
Hodges, a former University of Illinois at Chicago student-athlete, was born in Rochester, NY, attended Webster Christian School before his successful collegiate career at UIC. He was a three-time ECAC Rookie of the Week in 2011 and a member of the 2011 ECAC Championship team. He was an NCAA qualifier in 2011, 2012 and 2013, as well as a Pan-American Qualifier (Colombia) in 2012.
He was named ECAC Gymnast of the Week in 2013. He was also named 2012 ECAC Conference Champion on Pommel Horse and 2013 ECAC Conference Champion on Horizontal Bar. Hodges is an accomplished coach as he has helped several teams to win state championships as well as qualifying individuals to regional and national championships.
