Men's Basketball Defeats Schreiner And Will Face Texas Lutheran On Sunday In SCAC Title Game

The No. 1 seed Centenary men's basketball team defeated the Schreiner Mountaineers on Saturday by a score of 76-70 in the semifinals of the 2020 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Championship at Stephens Family Arena to advance to Sunday's title game against the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs at Noon. The Gents (17-9, 14-5 SCAC) will face TLU for the third time this season after the two teams split a pair of regular-season meetings. Live stats and live video will be available for Sunday's championship game at www.scacsports.com.

Men's Basketball Secures Top Seed In SCAC Championship With Home Win Over Austin College

The Centenary men's basketball team recorded a historic victory on Friday evening at the Gold Dome as the Gents defeated the Austin College ‘Roos 84-71 in a key Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest which secured the No. 1 seed for Centenary in next weekend’s 2020 Basketball Championships in Kerrville, Texas. The Gents (15-9, 12-5 SCAC) set a division III program record for conference wins in a single season and won their season-best seventh game in a row as they improved to 9-1 at home this season.

The Centenary men’s basketball team picked up its biggest win in the division III era on Friday as the Gents defeated the St. Thomas Celts by a score of 99-89 in a meeting between the top two teams in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference at the Gold Dome. The Gents (14-9, 11-5 SCAC) tied a school single-season record for conference wins in a season and extended their season-best winning streak to six games and marked the first time Centenary has won six in a row since the 2015-16 season.

The Centenary men's basketball team picked up a convincing 91-77 road win in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon over the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs at Memorial Gym. The Gents (13-9, 10-5 SCAC) extended their winning streak to a season-tying best five in a row and completed a weekend conference sweep after a thrilling 82-79 comeback win on Friday at Southwestern.

Men's Basketball Falls On Road To Colorado College

The Centenary men's basketball team fell, 72-67, to the Colorado College Tigers in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday at Reid Arena. The Gents (8-9, 5-5 SCAC) split the season series with the Tigers (5-11, 3-7 SCAC) after defeating them 83-75 in overtime back on Dec. 29 at home.

Men's Basketball Defeats Southwestern In SCAC Play

The Centenary men’s basketball team raced out to a 15-point halftime lead over the Southwestern Pirates on Friday and picked up an 84-74 victory in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest at the Gold Dome. The Gents (8-6, 5-2 SCAC) improved to 5-0 at home this season and have won six of their last eight games. Southwestern fell to 7-6 and 3-3 in SCAC play. Centenary has won six of its eight games this season by double digits.

Gents Remain Undefeated In SCAC Play With Victory Over Colorado College

The Centenary men’s basketball team remained undefeated in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with an 83-75 victory in overtime on Sunday over the Colorado College Tigers at the Gold Dome. The Gents improved to 6-4 and 3-0 in the SCAC while Colorado College dropped to 2-7 and 0-3 in the SCAC. Centenary is tied atop the conference standings with St. Thomas (3-0) and Southwestern (2-0) who plays Schreiner at home Sunday evening.

Men's Basketball Defeats Louisiana College At Home

The Centenary men's basketball team defeated the Louisiana College Wildcats, 76-66, in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon at the Gold Dome. The Gents (3-4) outscored the Wildcats 42-31 in the second half after trailing by a point (35-34) at halftime. Louisiana College fell to 4-2 with the loss. The teams split the season series after the Wildcats defeated the Gents, 71-66, back on Nov. 12 in Pineville. Centenary, playing at home for the first time in nearly a month, was led in scoring by sophomore forward Ty Prince (Thorndale, Texas) as he posted 18 points in 36 minutes, making 8 of 12 shots from the field and two of five from three-point range.

Men's Basketball Faces ETBU On Road Monday

The Centenary men’s basketball team will face the East Texas Baptist University Tigers in a non-conference game on Monday set for 7:30 p.m. at the Ornelas Gymnasium. The Gents (2-3) return to Texas after falling 99-83 to the LeTourneau YellowJackets last Tuesday in Longview as they are set to play their fourth-straight road contest. ETBU improved to 4-1 after beating Hendrix, 81-68, on Nov. 26 in its home opener. Centenary won both matchups last season and leads the all-time series, 7-3.

Men's Basketball Drops Non-Conference Game Tuesday At LeTourneau

The Centenary men's basketball team fell 99-83 to the LeTourneau University YellowJackets on Tuesday in a non-conference game at the Solheim Arena. The Gents (2-3) were playing their third-straight game on the road after splitting a pair of contests this past weekend against Howard Payne and Hardin-Simmons. The YellowJackets improved to 5-1 after Tuesday’s victory.  LeTourneau raced out to a 58-33 lead at halftime, but the Gents’ offense came alive in the second half, outscoring the YellowJackets, 50-41.
