Men's Golf Announces 2022-23 Schedule
The Centenary men’s golf program has announced its 2022-23 season schedule, head coach Emlyn Aubrey announced on Friday.
Shreveport – The Centenary men's golf program has announced its 2022-23 season schedule, head coach Emlyn Aubrey announced on Friday.
The Gents will begin their season in the Mary Hardin-Baylor Fall Intercollegiate on Sept. 26-27 held at Sammons Park Golf Club in Temple, Texas. Centenary will then face Hendrix and Millsaps in a tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Black Bear Golf Club in Delhi, La.
Centenary then wraps up its fall season in the Crusader Invitational Oct. 24-25 hosted by the University of Dallas at the WinStar Golf Club in Thackerville, Okla. The Gents geared up for the beginning of fall tournament play with a match versus Louisiana Christian University on Wednesday at Links on the Bayou in Alexandria, La. as they finished second to the Wildcats.
"We have a slew of freshmen coming in and we are looking to them to replace the success of four-year starters Richard Polan and Harrison John," said Aubrey.
"Our four returners that are leading the way with experience include junior Andrew Bennett (Bossier City, La.), junior Ricky Blair (Bossier City, La.), and senior Devan Martin (Watson, La.). Sophomore Tyler Jones (Stonewall, La.) starts his second year looking to improve his scoring average after playing in all competitions last season."
Bennett recorded four top-20 finishes last season while Blair recorded five top-30 finishes.
"Our new freshmen include Jeffrey Borchert (Katy, Texas), Hahn Bridges (Sterlington, La.), Parker Christensen (Castle Rock, Colo.), and Colton Mayer (Heath, Texas). We'll find out soon enough who has been practicing this summer and is ready to step up to fill out the traveling squad!"
The complete spring schedule will be announced soon. The 2023 Southern Collegiate Men's and Women's Golf Championships will be held April 17-18 at a site to be determined soon.
The Gents finished seventh at last season's SCAC Championships in Blanco, Texas as they shot a 54-over par 918.
