Gents Seventh Headed To Final Day At SCAC Championships
The Centenary swimming teams completed day three of competition at the annual Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Friday at the Garland ISD Natatorium as the Ladies remained in fifth place and the Gents remained in seventh.

The Ladies and Gents are joined this week by Austin College, Colorado College, McMurry University, University of the Ozarks, Southwestern University and Trinity University for the four-day event. The Ladies and Gents each finished seventh at the SCAC Championships last season. The championships will conclude on Saturday.
The Ladies, seventh after Wednesday's first day of competition with 60 points, picked up 56 points on Thursday to move into fifth place and picked up 64 more on Friday and are four points ahead of sixth-place Austin College. Trinity University is the leader on both the men's and women's side after two days of competition as the men have 728 points and the women have 745. The Gents have 112 points, well ahead of eight-place St. Thomas (16 points).
Centenary earned three top-10 individual finishes on Friday and one top five. Freshman Hannah Waddell (Shreveport, La.) earned the best finish of the day for the Maroon and White as she placed fourth in the championship final of the 100-yard breaststroke, swimming a time of 1:07.45. She previously swam a time of 1:06.51 in the prelims which is the second-fastest time in the event in program history.
Freshman Nick Gordon (Aurora, Colo.) finished seventh in the championship final of the 100-yard butterfly as he swam a time of 51.85 after swimming a time of 51:39 in the prelims which is the ninth-fastest time in the event in program history. Freshman Reece Esser (Huntsville, Texas) finished eighth in the championship finals of the 100-yard fly as she swam a time of 59.90.
The Gents earned a sixth-place finish in the championship final of the men's 200-yard freestyle relay (1:33.80) while the Ladies finished seventh with a time of 1:46.05.
Saturday's action begins at 10:30 a.m. and is followed by the finals at 6 p.m.
