Cross Country Announces 2022 Schedule
The Centenary men's and women's cross-country programs released their 2022 schedules, head coach Joseph Moses Jr. announced on Wednesday.
Shreveport – The Centenary men's and women's cross-country programs released their 2022 schedules, head coach Joseph Moses Jr. announced on Wednesday.
"My expectations on the cross-country season are to just compete finish races and build off that," said Moses Jr.
"I am just looking to recruit harder get some more cross-country kids in for next fall and just have a great season. "
The Ladies and Gents kick off their 2022 campaign on Labor Day weekend as the Maroon and White compete in the Mississippi College Opener on Friday, Sept. 2 in Clinton, Miss. A week later, Centenary will compete against Texas A&M-Texarkana and then wraps up the month with the Watson Collegiate Cross Country Classic on Sept. 24 back in Clinton, Miss.
Two freshmen who I expect to make an impact on both our cross country and track and field seasons are Connor Irvin and Ja' Michael Davis on the men's side and on the women's side, Shinaya Branch and Hannah White," said Moses Jr.
"All four are very talented freshmen coming out of high school and I look forward to them bringing our program some big things at the conference championship in 2023.
Centenary will participate in a pair of meets in October – against East Texas Baptist University and Southern Arkansas University, and concludes the month with the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in Georgetown, Texas on Oct. 29 hosted by Southwestern University.
"We will start the season in the Mississippi College opener just to see what kind of shape the kids are in and then after we compete against Texas A&M-Texarkana we will see the kind of shape we are in after one meet," said Moses Jr.
"By the time we reach The Watson Classic, we should be in some shape just be able to be a little bit faster and stronger and the meets against ETBU and Southern Arkansas will both get us ready for conference. Then we're just going to go into the SCAC Championships and do the best we can.
