Women's Basketball Claims First Win Of Season

The Centenary women’s basketball team earned its first victory of the 2019-20 season on Friday as the Ladies earned a well-deserved 61-57 victory over the Southwestern Pirates in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play at the Gold Dome. The Ladies (1-13, 1-6 SCAC) won for the first time since a 63-44 home win over Johnson and Wales on Feb. 9, 2019. Seven of Centenary's losses this season have been by 11 points or less with five single-digit losses, and finally the Maroon and White were able to break through and win a close game.

The Centenary women's basketball team lost a heartbreaker, 58-54, to the Johnson and Wales Wildcats in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Monday at the Gold Dome. The Ladies fell to 0-11 and 0-4 in SCAC play with the loss while the Wildcats improved to 1-8 and 1-3 in the SCAC. Six of Centenary’s losses have been by 11 points or less with four single-digit losses, displaying how hard the Ladies have fought this season.

Women's Basketball Picked Seventh In SCAC Preseason Coaches' Poll

The Centenary women’s basketball team is predicted to finish seventh in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference for the 2019-20 season, it was announced on Wednesday following exclusive voting by the league's head coaches.  The Ladies, led by second-year head coach Jason Schmitz, received 35 points in the poll and are picked ahead of St. Thomas, Johnson & Wales, and Dallas. Centenary, 8-17 overall a season ago posted a 6-10 mark in SCAC play, its most conference wins in a single season in the division III era. Centenary opens the regular season at home on Sunday, Nov. 10 against Hendrix at 1 p.m.

Women's Basketball Releases 2019-20 Season Schedule

The Centenary women’s basketball program has released its 2019-20 season schedule as the Ladies begin their regular season on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. versus Hendrix in the Gold Dome. Centenary will face McNeese on the road in an exhibition game on Friday, Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m. in Lake Charles before its regular season opener. The Ladies will also face Grambling in an exhibition game on Wednesday, Nov. 13 on the road at 7 p.m. The Ladies’ season opener on Nov. 10, also their home opener, will serve as their Homecoming game.
