Ladies Post Season-High Score On Sunday Night At TWU
The Centenary gymnastics team earned a season-high 190.325 on Sunday evening to finish second in a dual meet against the host Texas Woman's University Pioneers inside Kitty Magee Arena.
Denton, Texas - The Centenary gymnastics team earned a season-high 190.325 on Sunday evening to finish second in a dual meet against the host Texas Woman's University Pioneers inside Kitty Magee Arena.
The Pioneers won the meet with a 196.125 score. Sophomore Amy Foret (Bedford, Texas) had the Ladies' top finish of the meet as she tied for fifth place with a 9.725 score. Sophomore Sophie Schmitz (Trophy Club, Texas) won the All-Around with a new season and career-high 38.175.
The Ladies' 190.325 is their highest team score since posting a 192.475 on March 11, 2023 against Lindenwood at home. Centenary recorded a 47.850 on beam on Sunday, its best score of the season in the event. The Ladies posted a 47.650 on vault, a 47.575 on bars, and a 47.250 on floor.
Senior Isabel Plaza (San Antonio, Texas) had the Ladies' best finish on vault with a 9.675 and Schmitz was right behind her in seventh place (9.60) , Foret finished eighth (9.55) and senior Kendall Huff (Riviera, Texas) finished ninth (9.525).
Schmitz had the top finish on bars (9.75) as she placed seventh, senior Roxanne Myers (Prairieville, La.) finished eighth with a new season and career-high 9.65 and junior Emma Lavelle (Mandeville, La.) placed ninth with a 9.50.
Lavelle posted a 9.65 on beam to finish seventh with the Ladies' second-best score in the event behind Foret. Freshman Brooke Murdock (Garland, Texas) finished eighth with a season-high tying 9.625, junior Mylia Vidtor (The Colony, Texas) finished 10th with a 9.45 and Schmitz was right behind her in 11th place with a season-high 9.40.
Freshman Olivia Williams (Cape Coral, Fla.) finished seventh on floor to lead the Ladies in the event as she scored a 9.525. Plaza finished eighth (9.50), sophomore Claire Flores (Oklahoma City, Okla.) finished ninth with a 9.45 and Schmitz was 10th with a 9.425.
Next up for the Ladies is the annual MIC Championships on Saturday, March 23 in St. Charles, Mo. at 7 p.m. and hosted by Lindenwood. The Ladies finished fifth in the 2023 MIC Championships as they recorded a 188.875 team score.
