Nine Gymnasts Named WCGA Academic All-Americans
Nine Centenary gymnasts were named Academic All-Americans for the 2023-24 academic year by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA), the organization announced on Wednesday.
Marlboro, NJ – Nine Centenary gymnasts were named Academic All-Americans for the 2023-24 academic year by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA), the organization announced on Wednesday.
Centenary also finished 71st nationally in team grade-point average (3.43) and two Ladies earned a perfect 4.0 GPA and all nine had a 3.50 GPA or above.
The University of Alaska, Southern Utah University, and San Jose State University posted the top three team grade-point averages (GPAs) for the 2023-24 academic year based on data submitted to the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA).
Overall, 63 programs averaged a 3.5 or higher GPA, with 1,174 individuals earning that mark, which is the most ever recorded (since 2008 when statistics were monitored). An impressive 296 student-athletes posted a 4.0 GPA, another new record since 2008. The average GPA across all reported student-athletes was 3.6103, which is the 2nd highest recorded.

The University of Alaska posted the top GPA with a 3.8678. Third year Head Coach Marie-Sophie Boggasch guided the Seawolves to the top spot up from 58th last season. This is the first time UAA ranks in the top 5, with 8 student-athletes earning a 4.0 GPA.
Southern Utah University took the 2nd position with a team GPA of 3.8584. Led by Scotty Bauman, the Thunderbirds moved up from 19th in 2023, with 8 student-athletes earning a 4.0 GPA.
Rounding out the top 3 is San Jose State University with a team GPA of 3.8295. Head Coach Joanne Bowers guided the Spartans to its first Top 5 finish, moving up from 60th in 2023. Three San Jose State student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA.
