Swimming Teams Set For SCAC Championships
The Centenary swimming teams are set for the annual Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, beginning on Wednesday and concluding on Saturday at the Garland ISD Natatorium.

The Ladies and Gents will be joined this week by Austin College, Colorado College, McMurry University, University of the Ozarks, Southwestern University, the University of St. Thomas and Trinity University for the four-day event. The Ladies finished sixth and the Gents seventh at the SCAC Championships last season.
Wednesday's schedule begins with the 200 Medley Relay followed by the 800 Free Relay, both set for 5 p.m. Competition begins at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday with the prelims of the 500 Freestyle followed by the 200 IM, then the 50 free and finishes with the 400 Medley Relay. The finals of those events will be held starting at 6 p.m.
Friday's schedule consists of prelims of the 200 Free Relay beginning at 10:30 a.m. followed by the 100 butterfly, 400 IM, 200 freestyle. 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, women's 3-Meter Diving, and Men's 1-Meter Diving – both at 12:30 p.m.
A special recognition of all the senior student-athletes is set for 5:45 p.m. on Friday followed by evening finals. Saturday's action begins at 10:30 a.m. and is followed by the finals at 6 p.m.
Last Time Out:
The Ladies and Gents finished off an impressive weekend with a combined score of 242.00 to defeat both Austin College and the University of St. Thomas on Jan. 18 in a double dual meet inside the Centenary Fitness Center.
The Maroon and White defeated the Millsaps College Majors by a combined team score of 211-151 in a dual meet on Jan. 17 as the Gents recorded a convincing 133-49 win while the Ladies fell 102-78.
Sophomore Hannah Waddell (Shreveport, La.) picked up five individual wins last month in those home meets while freshman Hunter Hedges (Murphy, Texas) tallied four. Freshman Bailey Allemeier (Altus, Okla.) and sophomore Reece Esser (Huntsville, Texas) have been consistent so far this season on the Ladies' side as each have recorded multiple individual wins and runner-up finishes.
Freshman Noah Bannan (Mandeville, La.), freshman Adam Stelly (Opelousas, La.), freshman Sake Stroderd (Sulphur, La.), freshman Trey White (Ball, La.), and freshman Parker Randolph (Shreveport, La.) have all posted individual wins this season along with senior Antonio Barbee (Plaquemine, La.).
Waddell is in the midst of another outstanding season for the Ladies as she has tallied 19 individual wins in six meets. She was named the SCAC Co-Women's Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 29 and was named solo Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 15 after she turned in an impressive opening weekend for the Ladies in a pair of home meets against McMurry as she claimed six individual wins. She returns to a familiar pool this weekend after she swam a new school-record time in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:24.99) in last season's championships.
