Spicewood, Texas - The Centenary women's golf team is in fourth place after the first round of the 2021 Linda Lowery Invitational on Monday at the Lakecliff Golf Club.
The Ladies, playing their third tournament in the last eight days, shot their lowest round of the season as they posted a 93-over par 377 led by an 11-over 82 from junior Abigail Hayes (Plano, Texas). East Texas Baptist University is the leader after day one after shooting a 21-over par 305 and tournament host Concordia is second after shooting a 29-over 313, eight strokes behind ETBU. LeTourneau is third at 52-over par 336.
Centenary finished fifth at the Lady Crusader Spring Invitational on Sunday at Stonetree Golf Club in Killeen, Texas just five days after placing sixth in the Hal Sutton Invitational, its annual home tournament, but showed little signs of being tired on Monday.
Senior Shannon Orlopp (Rogers, Ark.) shot a 13-over par 84 to tie for 14th place. Junior Lindsay Strohm (McKinney, Texas) is 23rd after shooting a 33-over 204, and freshman Madison Wing (Shreveport) shot a 36-over 107 and is 24th.
ETBU's makenzie Pinkston and Concordia's Madyson Milliorn are tied atop the individual leaderboard after Monday's play as each shot a 3-over par 74. The final round is set for Tuesday morning.
