Ladies And Gents Each In Seventh Place After Day One At SCAC Championships

The Ladies and Gents are joined this week by Austin College, Colorado College, McMurry University, University of the Ozarks, Southwestern University and Trinity University for the four-day event. The Ladies and Gents each finished seventh at the SCAC Championships last season. The championships will conclude on Saturday.
Wednesday's schedule featured the 200 Medley Relay followed by the 800 Free Relay. Trinity is the day one leader on both the men's and women's side as both the Tigers' teams tallied 116 points. The Gents are seventh with 24 points while the Ladies are also seventh after picking up 60 points.
The Ladies' foursome of senior Anacelia Galeano-Balam (Baton Rouge, La.), junior Madeline Vacula (Belton, Texas), freshman Hannah Waddell (Shreveport, La.), and freshman Reece Esser (Huntsville, Texas) finished fifth in the 200 medley relay as they swam a time of 1:57.59. Vacula, Esser, and Waddell teamed with freshman Cicely Jackson (Lafayette, La.) to place fifth in the 800 free relay as they swam a time of 8:24.35.
On the men's side, senior Antonio Barbee (Plaquemine, La.), senior Aiden Peterkin (Zachary, La.), freshman Nick Gordon (Aurora, Colo.), and freshman Ubaldo Ayala (Hallsville, Texas) finished seventh in the 800 free relay as they swam a time of 7:45.80. The Gents were disqualified in the 200 medley relay.
Competition begins on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with the prelims of the 500 Freestyle followed by the 200 IM, then the 50 free and finishes with the 400 Medley Relay. The finals of those events will be held starting at 6 p.m.
