LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - For the first time in his career, Centenary junior Matthew Devillier has been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week. This past weekend, the Gents finished off their second conference series sweep of the year at Schreiner.
In the first game of a double header Saturday, March 24, a Gents 10-0 win in seven innings, Devillier threw a complete game shutout. In seven innings, he allowed just three hits and struck out five - never allowing a Schreiner player past second base. At one point, Devillier had retired 11-of-12 Mountaineer batters. In that stretch, from the first through the fourth inning, the only Mountaineer player to reach was via an error in the second inning.
The Gents return to action Thursday and Friday, March 29-30, with a three game series with UT Tyler. Thursday's game will be in Tyler, Texas, with first pitch at 7 p.m. Friday will be a doubleheader at Shehee Stadium beginning at 3 p.m.
