Shreveport - The Centenary Spirit Teams took competed at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) and Universal Dance Association (UDA) College Spirit Camp last month in College Station, Texas.
The Maroon and White cheer and pom squads competed in the event for the first time in school history, showing off their talents at the prestigious event from July 9-11 at Texas A&M University.
During the three days, both teams learned a lot of new material that they will be able to use cheering on the Ladies and Gents at home games this year, as well as preparing for competition. Both teams earned superior ratings, with cheer earning first place in their sideline evaluation.
"Both teams had two-a-day practices for three days leading up to camp, with a mile run and a lift workout adding in each day as well," said head coach Ellen Reid-LeClair.
"That week was a lot on the teams, and that's just how I wanted to start the year off," said Red-LeClair. It's only going to get harder from here, and if we want to compete this year then it's going to take a lot of hard work. I think everyone is on board to do just that."
